Healthy and happy!

Wellness medicine helps us to keep healthy pets healthy. Rather than react to an illness when it appears, the goal of Wellness medicine is to proactively ward illness before it appears

It's Tricky!

Identifying those slowly progressing, low grade illnesses that affect your pet can be extremely difficult for you and your veterinarian when symptoms are absent. Since most domestic pets have an immense capacity to compensate for the loss of more than 70% of healthy liver and kidney tissue, for example, most diseases affecting these organs have been present for some time before the symptoms are obvious on the outside. This is especially true with most cats!

Wellness Testing

Wellness testing allows us to identify organ insufficiencies and diseases early on. A simple change in diet, the addition of a supplement or the right medication can often be enough to slow down, stop or even reverse existing damage well before your pet is noticeably sick.

In dogs, wellness testing is excellent at screening for kidney disease, liver disease, pancreatic disease, diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infections and crystals, and hormonal imbalances such as hypothyroidism. In cats, wellness testing is excellent at screening for liver and kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infections and lower urinary tract disease, and hormonal imbalances such as hyperthyroidism.

Please ask one of our veterinarians or a member of our health care team about the additional benefits of having wellness testing done on your pet.
